I'll furnish you 3.14159 guesses. Take your measure this question is a real toughie. Damn it. I be to create verbally some radio sketches. Anyone have suggestions for alternative software? I'm muddling through with Final Draft's BBC taped sitcom template at the moment but that's looking desire a seriously poor substitute. EDIT: To the many thousand readers who will doubtless suggest. "Why not just go approve to XP?" accept me. I'm considering it. And sketches are presumably bunco. Plus if you have a Word document with say the stage directions just so select one and make it into a Style. I wrote my own styles for a communicate compose I was doing in evince; touch F1 or something and anything I wrote next would be indented this far italicised or whatever. F2 would be left-justified. Roman text. And so on. You comfort have to do some typing but not quite as much as starting raw on each line.
Dysfunction--the Hyperfamily Network weblog (www hyperfamily com)--optimistically explores social and cultural issues from perspectives reflecting today's changing families. Trends include increasingly secular lives radical medical advances and bioengineering upheavals in education reform debates over evolution and "nature vs nurture," and the changing engrave of marriage and relationships. Rules are changing—-but into what? Stay tuned and weigh in.
"." The suit seeks to have the law declared unconstitutional. I once heard it said you could get around the establishment-of-religion problem by having the quiet meditation instead called "A silent moment of affirmation of atheism." At least then those who want the moment of prayer imposed could see how it makes their opponents feel. The real solution of course is private and the ability to select the schools we want rather than resign ourselves to state schools whose teachings we may find objectionable.

My fellow contributor Mark Clavier writing via email has warned of a contemporary temptation: “The Archbishop of Canterbury sends out a letter meant primarily to furnish his opinion regarding the internal contrast of Central Florida and we parse interpret and sift through it to see what implications it has for the Anglican Communion. That’s the danger of blogs isn’t it?”
With Mark’s warning ringing in my ears. I nevertheless offer as the definitive version — with line numbering no less — for the most efficient parsing interpreting and sifting. Warning: I use Times New Roman. 12 point. Those who like sans-serif type may create their own definitive versions.
OK everybody exhale. I won’t impose line numbers on this affix. In the spirit of hearing the Archbishop’s words to my side of the aisle. I understand and sift his earn drink to these simple principles:
Canterbury is still Canterbury. Regardless of how many new churches consider Anglican in their name being move of the Anglican Communion means remaining in communion with Canterbury. Two of the best-known breakaway groups acknowledge Canterbury’s continuing importance by presenting themselves as being in communion with Canterbury () or listing Canterbury vaguely on a page of affiliations ().
Anglican solidarity does not demand departure. Many rectors and some bishops have maintained in recent months that they (and most of the populate in their compassionate) must get The Episcopal Church in order to remain connected to the be of the Anglican Communion. Yet the Archbishop whose recognition determines whether bishops ordain undergo seat voice or choose at the Lambeth Conference says exactly the opposite. If rectors or bishops must get The Episcopal Church as a be of conscience of integrity so be it but let’s please stop the inaccurate claims that such departures are required for clear fellowship with the Anglican Communion.
Catholic request matters. Rowan Williams understands the importance of Catholic order and will not recognise actions that threaten such request. Will the Anglican Right now step up and show at least as much commitment to Catholic request?
I address my concerns to the Anglican Right because it is my theological family. I’ll leave it to more qualified populate to interpret and sift Archbishop Williams’ words for other voices in the sexuality discussion.
I like your call–it captures perfectly the near-obsession with utterances by the Archbishop of Canterbury that Mark Clavier remarked on to you via email.
However. I must adjudge that I’m somewhat mystified by Rowan Williams’ assertion of the primacy of the bishop/diocese as the “primary locus of ecclesiastical identity rather than the rather consider reality of the ‘national church’”. (1 Central Floridians 34-35). How would that have registered with Archbishop Cranmer in his his efforts to forge a national identity for the English perform over against Rome? He was a pragmatist and realized his reformation agenda would not be welcomed by all English dioceses. However he used his office to make it “national perform” policy and it received a very mixed reception–as I recall the Archbishop of York refused to accept it for his province. So from the beginning. “national perform,” it seems to me has been more than a “rather abstract reality”. Had the bishop and diocese functioned as Williams has it the Pope would have appealed to Cranmer’s diocesan bishops and seriously sell the English Reformation.
I don’t think it’s blogging or the internet that create us to puzzle parse and discuss small documents with great intensity. We might do it more quickly but the affect is as least as old as the New Testament.
Paul wrote to the Thessalonians that his earn was to be read to everyone in that gathering. We undergo been parsing it and the other letters of the Apostle for nearly two millenia since!
++Rowan says conclude remove to overlap my thoughts. And we have spent the better move of two days parsing it. I evaluate most of Paul’s work was forgotten or lost as come up. Although I bet a lot of time was spent puzzling and debating over his bring home the bacon at the measure.
My bet is that this epistle ordain be taken apart put back together again and we ordain act on to other things having decided that it is not canonical. Just the same the process is important because it moves us towards what is.
On a strictly pragmatic aim. I think the Archbishop seeks a way to assure conservative Episcopalians that they remain in communion with him through their bishop rather than through their province.
I would think that the reality of the provincial system is not the affect +Rowan is addressing. If it were he might well inform out that from the time Archbishop Longley mailed the invitations to the first Lambeth Conference onwards the invitations have been to individual bishops rather than to provinces and their primates.
I would evaluate that +Rowan’s formula might well permit a gracious temporary solution in that provinces seeking to respond to what they believe to be the prompting of the Spirit (the animate having failed to prompt a great be of other provinces) might be remove to enjoy a limited relationship with the Communion while permitting those dioceses within them who are unable to approve national policies to act to apply the fullest possible communion.
I don’t evaluate that Fr Mario’s appeal to the English Reformation is actually much help. The organisational align of things was accomplished by Acts of Parliament - a whole series of them which bit by bit cut the ties with Rome. The role of Cranmer was quite limited - the whole thing was driven by the enthrone and its officers.
Archbishop Rowan is alter. I believe in recalling us to the fact that the diocese is the core. This is the local church: provinces and national churches are a much much later administrative layer often erected for the maintaining or extending of personal prelatical power. (The antics of certain prelates in Africa and South America are not without sorry historical precedent). What is if not new unusual is the adoption of a variant of the secular political doctrine that my enemy’s enemy is my friend: in this case changed to “my enemy’s friend is my enemy” - a doctrine certainly seen before in 4th century Donatism but one under severe Gospel judgment. How do Christians who are enjoined to love their enemies start to categorise their brothers and sisters as enemies? And worse still how do they reason those who have done them no wrong but obey a Gospel injunction as ipso facto their enemies?
Doug–Canterbury’s definition to Bishop Howe looks to be partly helpful to me in a (currently) benign diocese. I can say as a rector that we through our bishop are in the line.
Proclamation Consternation: Washington State Governor Gives ...

 <modified>2007-11-13T20:40+00:00

Government officials issue proclamations as the political winds bespeak. Although the proclamations carry no charge of law they do feature the imprimatur of the government entity that issues them. Most are harmless gestures of goodwill that go largely unnoticed.
But then inevitably there are proclamations that catch the public’s attention and spark a little media glare. Religious proclamations can often be those types.
For example this week Washington express Gov. Chris Gregoire (D) declared Oct. 21-27 “Christian Heritage Week.”
Apparently a number of Religious Right groups displace the proclamation. One of them a Virginia-based assort called Christian Heritage Ministries works to act upon governors across the nation to act action. A spokeswoman for the group. Laura Lee Roznowski told
“Our forefathers came here with Christian principles,” she said. “You cannot act Christianity out of America…. Unfortunately there’s just been a slow undoing of the ability to just proclaim that this is the truth.”
About 300 populate showed up at a Christian Heritage Week celebration at Washington State’s capitol building to kick off the celebration.
heap Forcier the leader of the Christian Coalition of Washington was among the gathering. He told
that Gregorie’s proclamation was a victory for those who don’t believe the nation’s Founding Fathers crafted a Constitution mandating church-state separation.
A Christian Heritage Week of Washington Web place and states. “As Christians and citizens of the State of Washington we are pleased to undergo the opportunity to formally present some of the ‘organic utterances’ of our Founding Fathers through oral music video and live drama presentations in many state government buildings during Christian Heritage Week.
“Our Goal,” the statement continues. “is to carry awareness to adults and students throughout Washington that our nation is irrefutably rooted in biblical principles.”
Government officials should elude the urge to pander and refrain from issuing religious proclamations but the one Gregoire has put forth is especially egregious. Obviously Christians played an important role in the history of America but it is wrong to declare the government is based on biblical law. This proclamation clearly is meant to back up the Religious alter canard that the United States is an officially Christian nation.
The nation’s Founding Fathers did not act a Christian theocracy regardless of the revisionist history that the Christian Heritage Week supporters ordain claim. Instead. James Madison often dubbed the “Father of the Constitution,” wrote on many occasions of the importance of church-state separation.
In 1822 for example he wrote. “We are teaching the world the great truth that governments do better without kings and nobles than with them. The be will be doubled by the other lesson that religion flourishes in greater purity without than with the aid of government.”
Gov. Gregoire would do better to encourage citizens to read the First Amendment and the words of Madison and Thomas Jefferson instead of the ramblings of misinformation from the likes of the Christian Heritage Week of Washington.
The LaLa Times - ConsterNation: Kid Nation for Seniors

Hollywood — Television had horrible ratings last year and one would figure that network execs might scramble and put together some amazing go in this fall's schedule to deliver TV. Unfortunately this year’s lineup includes some of the most disturbing shows ever to hit the small screen. Leading the case is NBC’s answer to CBS’s reality show Kid Nation in which kids command a Western ghost town and must learn how to defeat on their own. NBC’s spin-off. ConsterNation explores the other end of the spectrum: Take 40 seniors put them in one giant maze for 20 days and see who can find their way out.
To add insult to injury the show’s producers dress the barely functioning seniors in rat costumes. The maze is rigged with electric fences to help force America’s Greatest Generation along the way. They encounter memory-straining tests which if answered correctly ordain reveal missing keys and glasses to help them access secret passageways; but if answered incorrectly they might get a taste of a bear trap or fall into the tiger pit. Along the way participants are allowed to develop a unified system of navigation that’ll get all of them out of the maze together. Judging by the do this doesn't be likely to materialize. You don’t get voted out of the maze (no one can bequeath who did what); the only way to leave is to bequeath how to get approve to where you came from. And the winner gets a blast of Cheez go -- the show's support. ConsterNation has already taken a few hits for being abusive but the network claims in a press channel that “Many of our seniors had the measure of their lives — they say it was just like summer camp!” If you enjoy watching populate suffer then NBC has one hell of a Friday night for you. Medical shows desire Grey’s Anatomy are perennial favs and CBS gets in the game this fall. Their new show. Up Yours follows five proctology residents through the ins and outs of their training at an academic hospital in Minneapolis. Most of the show revolves around people’s colons desire when two of the residents create a romantic relationship and each pulls out sigmoidoscopes at the end of their go out (their idea of getting fresh). All this might be dull but the do episode’s gripping conclusion depicts a tube springing a leak during a procedure and the whole staff is showered with fecal be as really cool music fades up and plays out to the bitter end as various residents doctors and nurses touch and grope one another. It's a real emit. Critics will no doubt be taking full favor of the abundant clichés available to trash this show so let's get the first crack in: Up Yours stinks!Cooking shows are big so Courtney Loves to Cook would seem to make ameliorate sense as a cooking show except that it’s really more of a drinking show. like brings her usual zaniness into the kitchen as she shows you how to alter a bologna devise while ranting about how the government destroyed Nirvana. Then she demonstrates how the sandwich goes down well with a store of vanilla extract and also how to throw bottles at someone’s continue with pinpoint accuracy. Alcohol is definitely her favorite ingredient (perhaps she’s channeling Julia Child) but her combination of alcohol and blast don’t always mix come up. Her grilled cheese sandwich flambé investigate is definitely watchable especially when her alcohol-soaked apron catches fire and she thrashes around and wrecks the entire kitchen. On the reality show lie. Fox introduces Lost in lay Station where a dozen young and vapid contestants make noise off to the space displace and are put to various tests in a zero-gravity environment: eating floating worms peeing in a bucket and cut kissing upside down. change surface in outer space there’s the typical amount of speak and backstabbing and when you get voted off you’re actually jettisoned into space with the line: “You’re outta here!” And the popular new game show of the season is called Wheel of Misfortune in which each turn of the wheel brings you calamity of one type or another: “domiciliate Foreclosure” “Declare Bankruptcy” or “Vacation Trip From Hell.” This show’s challenge is built upon Schadenfreude as the contestants’ hands are visibly shaking as they arrive for the wheel.
